The central traffic flow of the house is artistically adorned with a tree-shaped wooden decoration, representing the life of a tree and the vitality that spreads throughout the house. The wooden closets, varying in height and resembling a forest, create a lovely environment where every family member can appreciate the beauty of nature within the house.
For the house owner, a doctor concerned about physical and mental health, the design prioritizes a well-ventilated and well-lit living environment. The original layout of the house is maintained, integrating natural elements such as woods, mountains, water, rocks, and daylight. This creates a harmonious and rejuvenating atmosphere for the family.
The yellow wall surfaces, slantingly decorated, symbolize the comprehensive scattering of sunlight throughout the house. This not only brings warmth and brightness but also unites the family within the space. The use of low-formaldehyde materials in the construction of the house ensures a healthy, safe, and trustworthy living environment.
The Wood and Sunlight design spans approximately 132 square meters and was completed in October 2017 in New Taipei City, Taiwan. The design team, led by Chia Han Ho and Jo-Chien Hsu, successfully created a space that reflects the laid-back lifestyle of a Nordic forest. The kitchen, decorated with the concept of a forest night sky, exudes an easygoing and modest atmosphere, while the table serves as a dedicated space for the hostess to prepare light meals or knead dough.
The integral indoor space is embellished with warm gray tones, representing the main Nordic color palette. This color choice, combined with geometric patterns, showcases the changes in sunlight and the four seasons in each space. The design seamlessly blends the yearning for a pure life with lights, spaces, and materials, resulting in a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The Wood and Sunlight design was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2019 in the category of Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design. This prestigious award recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The design is respected for integrating industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, contributing to a better world.
